In early 2009, the Sheriff's Office was awarded a $36,000 grant from IyeTek Corporation to develop a computer based crash reporting program. We are the first agency in the State of Ohio to utilize this company in more efficient crash reporting. Crash reports are now sold online by IyeTek and can be obtained by clicking HERE.

The Sheriff's Office is committed to seeking every grant dollar possible to better equip our officers and save local tax dollars at the same time. In 2009, the Sheriff purchased nearly $71,000 dollars worth of equipment from an electronics grant. Equipment purchased include 5 laptop computers with internet cards and mounting stands to enable officers to create incident reports and crash reports from the field. This will maximize patrol visiblilty. A digital encrypted radio system for the office was built and put into effect. This project was in conjunction with 911 equipment. The project provides new digital mobile radios in each patrol unit under the Sheriff's command as well as equipping patrol units from the Woodsfield Police Department. Digital portable radios were also purchased with this funding. Vehicle equipment and computer tracking software were purchased for our K-9 unit. Digital cameras for crime scene investigations were upgraded with these funds as well.

In January 2010, the Sheriff's Office was awarded nearly $26,000 from the Office of Criminal Justice JAG Grant for additional digital radio equipment. An additional $13322 was secured from the Office of Criminal Justice JAG LE Grant for a computer system upgrade. Both projects were completed and put into sevice in May 2010 at no cost to local taxpayers.
JAG is the Justice Assistance Grant used for criminal justice programs. JAG LE is geared more towards equipment that directly affects law enforcement. Both grants are awarded on an annual basis.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office was awarded a $10,000 grant from Ohio Criminal Justice Services in August of 2010. This grant provides funds for the investigation of prescription drug trafficking and prescription drug diversion activities.
